In my case big picture Mode was not working at all and the crash was from steam link openizbug picture. If i set the steam link to start in desktop mode instead I'd was working fine. So: reinstall the steam app. Edit: saw you did a factory reset. Depending on how you did that the installed steam software was not affected by that.

In the "updates" tab, look for the Steam Cloud part and untick the synchronisation of the game with Steam Cloud. (This will only desativate steam cloud for Life is Strange, your other games will still have steam cloud activated) Most of the issues should be resolved if steps are followed correctly.

Spent many hours looking for a better core ratio, got 4.1 ghz and xmp pretty stable, at least was ok. 2 hours gaming and got a crash again on Rogue Company which is pretty low requirements. Tried with different RAM and problem was the same. If I turn CBP on and disable xmp I still crash, on games.

So I own PUBG and Insurgency: Sandstorm. Both games crash on startup before making it to the main menu. I just downloaded fortnight to test and it does the same thing! I’ve reinstalled windows 3 times recently and its fully up to date. Its installed on the SSD along with the games.

Okay so this is odd. I had my computer's audio playback Default Device set to my headset (Logitech G35 for reference). The game would not load at all. Immediately crashed upon startup, even for the game's Safe Mode. I switched the playback Default Device to my PC's speakers as I planned to watch a show, then tried loading the game out of curiousity (in safe mode) and it worked. I didn't' think If so, right click your game in Steam library, go to properties and press local files, then press "Verify local game files". That should do the trick.
