If the current is more that a few mA, like 1-2 A, than you have a parasitic drain. Looking at the meter, start pulling the fuses one by one. Put them back if the reading doesn't change. When you find one that drops the current when pulled, you just found the circuit that needs to be investigated further.
If you go and try again it will probably start. The cars today have automatic chokes and you should not press accelerator till firing. If however you think engine may have flooded 2 choices leave for 1/2hr. Or Plant foot to floor hold there turn engine over for 30 seconds to see if it starts to fire.
My Cee'd won't start anyway, i parked my car this friday and tried to turn it on today and it wont, instead of the usual sound when starting your car all i get is something like "trrrrrrrrrrrr". I've got a 2008 Kia Cee'd 1.6 crdi. I have a problem where the car won't rev past 2900rpm. I've done a bit of reading, and a lot of people with the same problem (same engine in Hyundai i30) had issues with the fuel filter. I've just had the car serviced and fuel filter replaced, but the issue persists.

Our 2009 Kia CEED (1.4 Petrol) seems to be immobilised and was flat-bedded home by the AA. Turns over but won't start - tried both keys. Changing the antenna coil didn't fix it. Any suggestions please on what to try next? One suggestion is to bypass the imobiliser but I don't know anyone experienced in hotwiring cars!

My 2014 sportage has been doing this too. It happens when it's very cold. I had read that the diesel thickens because of the cold and this is the cause. Today the engine management light come on when I accelerated a little heavier. This same issue happened 2 years ago (during a cold spell -10C).
Diesel Kia Ceeds suffer with HP pumps leaking seals into chain case (rising oil level and non start). Doing a camchain and pump on Diesel Ceed is an evil job - getting pump sprocket off needs a special tool - not a job I ever want to do again.
