Drakensang: The Dark Eye and it's pre/sequel Drakensang: The River of Time, play a lot like DAO, and while the world/story are obviously different, are very well written and interesting. The Dark Eye is one year older than DAO, so it's not as polished a game, but it's still fun to play through, and River of Time introduces many improvements.
Granted, The River of Time still has a handful of issues that mar the experience, including the uninspired combat system and shoddy localization. But it is definitely a better game, and easy to recommend to anyone who enjoyed The Dark Eye. Radon Labs took an interesting risk in creating a smaller scale story in which the Clonazepam: Fullscreen, including widescreen, I maxed out all the settings and its a butter smooth 120+ fps on my rig. Check the properties of the executable, and make sure its set to run as admin, and disable fullscreen optimizations (locked up my entire PC without these) Edit: Camera setting at 0.5 feels really good.
