Playing GW2 as my active MMO now (Kind of rotate between WoW, ESO, GW2, and SWTOR) and trying once again to get this mount. EDIT: Thanks for the suggestions! I just logged back in after taking my daughter home and found a bounty train to join and the first one we did was Corrupted Facet. Whee! On my way to finally getting this mount.
Or: How obtaining the griffon mount gets harder with every player who already earned it. Seriously, I am trying to get this part of the achievement since a few months (on and off to be fair) and i am not able to find enough people to do it on EU server. i think as a new player, the skyscale AND griffon (mounts altogether) shouldn't even be on your radar in terms of things to obtain until much later. it's more of a long term goal and the drama surrounding the mount definitely started a chain reaction that got people overly agitated over something that was meant to be done in slow increments

The griffon’s special movement ability is flight. While it cannot gain altitude above its starting point, apart from a substantial hop at the start, it can flap if u have 250 gold with nothing better to do with it go for it. otherwise not worth at all. its pretty easy to go to any meta on any map and see how useful griffon is to others, there is one spots out thousands i can think of on dragonfall at the end meta boss farm and thats it. Be real.
